It is widely recognised that Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) form the backbone for any developing economy, acting as both a keystone and catalyst for the firms of tomorrow by driving innovation, employment and investment.
The United Arab Emirates is no exception, with SMEs currently representing around 95% of registered businesses. In Dubai for example, this accounts for 42% of the Emirate's workforce and 40% of annual gross domestic product (GDP).
To support this hugely important sector, strategic plans have been developed by the government, including those set out in the UAE 2021 VISION. These plans look to stimulate both local Emirati and international investment in the local SME market. The UAE Government’s objectives are to develop:
- A knowledge-based society
- Job creation in diverse industry sectors
- Value enhancements throughout the manufacturing value chain
- Sustainable and diversified economy
- The UAE’s attractiveness for FDI
- The UAE’s competitive standing among the world economies
To support this initiative, the Dubai World Trade Centre presents Middle East SME a specialist platform highlighting business opportunities for existing SMEs and entrepreneurs. The event offers a centralised forum where UAE buyers and investors can come together for knowledge exchange, seminars, networking and business development.
Middle East SME will create a 360⁰ event, bringing together SMEs and large institutional buyers including government entities looking to fulfil their quotas under the Government Purchasing Programme, as well as private companies whilst at the same time allowing SME service providers the opportunity to present their tailor-made services.
If you are an SME aiming to develop your business relationships with the major coprorate and government buyers, or seeking investment or exposure for your company then you need to be exhibiting at Middle East SME.
If you are a supplier to the SME sector, a financial institution, bank, venture capitalist, private equity firm, legal or accountancy firm wishing to procure from SMEs, invest in SMEs, then you too should be considering exhibiting at Middle East SME or sponsoring the exhibition or the Middle East SME Conference.
